The Snackin’ Family usually has a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Cinnamon Toast Crunch Minis in our cereal cabinet. And we’ve sampled and enjoyed Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal Bars (that we’ll write a review for one day), but we’ve never tried the Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavor (or Cinnadust) outside of cereal… until now.
What Is Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn?
Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn is popcorn with Cinnadust Glaze on it. It’s part of a new line of popcorn, which also includes Cocoa Puffs Popcorn (which we’ll hopefully sample soon.)
Unlike Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, there is no Cinnadust powder on Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn. There’s just a glaze with the same flavor as the Cinnadust powder that is normally associated with Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
According to the Cinnamon Toast Crunch website, “Every piece of Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn is blasted with the epic cinnamon and sugar combination we call Cinnadust.”
Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn is surprisingly crunchy. The outer glaze is a thin, but hard, sugar glaze that gives each piece of popcorn a satisfying crunch. But the center is softer – as you’d expect from popcorn. Interestingly, there are no kernels in the popcorn. After biting a few pieces in half, the Snackin’ Family was wondering if popcorn was glazed – or if perhaps each piece was manufactured to have the shape of popcorn (from a combination of ingredients). Popcorn is the second ingredient in Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn, but so is crisp rice.
“We took everything you love about Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal and created a sweet popcorn flavor you can share with friends and family,” explains the Cinnamon Toast Crunch website. “Crunch and irresistibly delicious, it’s perfect for snacktime, or anytime.”
What Does Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn Taste Like?
Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn tastes like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It feels like a pretty obvious answer, and it’s true.
The Cinnamon Toast Crunch website calls it a “sweet cinnamon flavor” and explains that Cinnamon Toast Crunch is “not your typical kettle or caramel corn flavor.”
Does the Snackin’ Family Like Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn?
Cinnamon Toast Crunch reminds Snackin’ Mom of Cracker Jacks, but without the peanuts (or fun prize). And for the Snackin’ Kids, who have rarely experienced Cracker Jacks, Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn reminds them of caramel popcorn (which is really just the generic name for Cracker Jacks).
When Snackin’ Sister first tasted Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn, she said “yuck” and asked me not to send it to school. But then she ate another piece of popcorn. And then another. And then decided Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn is delicious. (She’s a big fan of caramel popcorn). After school, she reaffirmed her position… Snackin’ Sister enjoyed her serving of Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn and wants more.
Snackin’ Brother did not try his Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn until he was at school, and he was less of a fan. He didn’t dislike it, but he didn’t enjoy it either. Snackin’ Brother loves popcorn, but he prefers to stick to the basics for his popcorn toppings – salt and butter.
Snackin’ Mom thinks Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn tastes more like Cinnamon Toast Crunch and less like caramel popcorn, and it leaves a really sweet and buttery aftertaste. For Snackin’ Mom, it’s a bit of an odd flavor for popcorn. She prefers the OG – Cracker Jacks (and wishes Cracker Jacks would bring back the cool prizes of her youth).
Should You Buy Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn?
If your family likes popcorn, caramel popcorn and/or Cinnamon Toast Crunch, there’s a good chance you will enjoy Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn. It’s worth the try.
