Kid Snack Review

Pizza Fruit Roll-Ups

An almost complete fail. It was impossible to get the toppings out to make the pizza.

Kids Say: NEVER AGAIN.

Kid Snack Review:
Fruit Roll-Ups Peel ‘N Build in Pizza Shape

The Snackin’ Family kids picked the pizza-shaped Fruit Roll-Ups Peel ‘N Build off the grocery store shelf, selecting them instead of many other cool looking fruit snack choices. And they were so excited to peel and build their pizzas.

When we got home, pizza Fruit Roll-ups were the first snacks the Snackin’ Family kids chose to sample. The anticipation was strong as we opened the box and opened the wrapper of the individual Fruit Roll-Ups. And then we tried to unroll the actual Fruit Roll-Up, and it was immediately clear this snack was not going to meet expectations.

The box of the Fruit Roll-Ups Peel ‘N Build in pizza shape shows a triangle piece of pizza with pepperoni, bell pepper and mushroom toppings placed on it. There are three stripes of color, each representing a different flavor: orange punch, green apple and red berry.

Unfortunately, the Fruit Roll-Up didn’t unroll well. Despite being packaged with wax paper, it was stuck to itself as we unrolled it. To make matters worse, the perforations were not significant enough to make it easy to punch out the shapes.

Quotes from the Snackin’ Family kids ranged from “this works terribly” to “this is never going to work….” And they were correct. We kept trying, and we never built a good slice of pizza. We tried refrigerating the Fruit Roll-Ups Peel’N’Build and we tried freezing them. Cold temperature helped unroll the Fruit Roll-Ups, but it didn’t solve for the perforation challenges.

The Fruit Roll-Ups still taste good, so they will not go to waste. But in the words of Snackin’ Brother, I wouldn’t have gotten this if I’d known [that it wouldn’t work].” And Snackin’ Sister said, “We should never get this again.”
